ORIGINS

Hello! My name is Anusha and I'm a longtime fan of all things Midcentury. I've been collecting furniture and home decor from the 1950s-70s since I was in college in the 1990s. Today, Midcentury design has become very trendy and it's not easy to find things from this era in our local thrift stores anymore. But now and then you can come across some amazing treasures.

I grew up in Sri Lanka, the former British colony of Ceylon (which gained independence in 1948 and changed its name to Sri Lanka in the '70s) in my grandparents' home, which was decorated in a very Midcentury way. In fact, this style remained popular in Sri Lanka till around the 1980s. I wish I could have saved more of my grandparents' beautiful belongings, but I was not able to do so, with certain exceptions.

My husband is older than me, and he grew up at a time when Midcentury style was most popular, especially in his home, so he shares my love of this look and era.

We live in California now, in a sweet little 1951 ranch-style home we bought in 2012. We're trying to decorate our American home in a Sri Lankan Midcentury style. This is an account of our adventures!
